High pitched tones from minibrute when triggered by beat step pro
« on: September 24, 2015, 04:47:57 am »
Howdy gang,

Here is my current setup:

Electronica    To Other    To Computer

Alesis SR 18 v1.02    MIDI to Beatstep Pro
Arturia Beatstep Pro v1.1.1.6    MIDI to SR 18    USB
Arturia MiniBrute v1.0.3.2    VC Gate to BeatStep Pro    USB
Behringer Xenyx X1204USB    audio to MB, audio to SR 18    USB

My computer is a Mac Mini running OS X 10.10.

AS you can see from the title, when I trigger the minibrute from the beatste pro, the minibrute gives off very high pitched tones, and will do so even if I trigger from the keyboard until I switch the beatstep pro off. As you can see, I am running current firmware on the beatstep pro (and I _think_ I am from on the minibrute as well.)

What can I do about this, or how can I help you troubleshoot this problem?

Also, are you producing firmware updates for the minibrute anymore? When I go to firmware update in the Brute Connection software, your site returns a 404 error. What gives?

As ever, thanks for any and all assistance!

Regards,

Have you tried setting the minibrute to the lowest octave (-2, or -3 if it works like the microbrute) ?

I'm having the exact same problem and I have tried the octave settings but it's still a couple of octaves high - even when sending the lowest notes possible frpm the BSP! No clue!

Hey, this is a common "issue", but can be changed easily.

In your case I think the best would be to change the 0V note of the sequencer in the Midi Control Center.

1) Plug in your Beatstep pro to your computer

2) Open the Midi control center

3) Make sure your Beatstep Pro is seen and connected

4) In the Device Parameters, in the CV/Gate settings, set the 0V note to C0 instead of the one already set

5) Close the Midi Control Center

Now when you turn on your beatstep pro, if you do not touch the minibrute's keyboard, it will play 2 octaves lower when you press the pads on the Beatstep Pro. You might want to try to experiment with the different settings to find a setup you like !

Also when doing this you need to turn the Minibrute off and then back on as well for the changes in pitch to take place. So reset them both. Thanks for posting this.

Having high pitched tones as well when driving the MiniBrute from another step-sequencer than the BSP
(in my case the Roland A-01). I'll think I get the idea behind the fix in this thread, let's see if I can apply something alike to the A-01.

Bye/thanks
