Changing Key problem
« on: July 31, 2015, 12:52:42 am »
Hi,

I have a sequence playing, when I change the key, it moves the whole sequence.

Basically, say I'm in C Major and all my steps are playing B1, then I change key to D Major, the sounds all move up.
Whereas they should still play B1.

Just because I changed the key doesn't mean the B note should change. B is in both of those scales.

Hope that makes sense.
Maybe I'm changing key the wrong way?

Just to make sure i'm doing it right, how do you change key? Because i don't think it is pressing 'sequence and then a Pad with a note name on it' - that is transposing the sequence.

Thanks

Its more accurate to say it transposes the sequence.

Yes, very true, that's what it does, so how do I change key?

Sorry didn't check but the scales only change in the encoders and do not move the notes to that scale . so in chromatic you have 12 notes. and in most of the others they have 8 . the notes for that scale this to help you pick the notes when you are creating patterns.

and the other mode tis to transpose the key of the seq.

Thanks for the reply Terry, i still don't understand how I change key then?

Somebody suggested that to change key you have to do it from the midi control centre.

BSP doesn't change your scale on the fly. When you hold down SEQ button and press on a pad then it transposes and changes your key and remains in the scale. If you change your scale it changes the values which can be selected from the encoders after that.
