ok its gotta be simple - Spark Vintage DrmMach midi question
« on: April 14, 2015, 09:33:40 pm »
hey All ----

Loving Spark VDM ----managed to get it working in Logic 8 on 10.8.5 after renaming IAC driver.

my question is;  VDM is opening and playing in time to click, but when i drag the midi file/pattern into the Logic arrange window, VDM isnt playing the midi - its still just 'playing itself' -- i.e. Spark is playing independently before the track starts…

I've check all midi settings, but kinda hit a brickwall.   anyone?

cheers & thnx in adv for any info ----

J.

hey Terry thnx for the quick reply --- yup tried that.

seems Logic is actually playing the midi notes (i can see in the meter) - but no sound.   when I open the piano roll and tap the midi notes still no sound.  hmm.    its like i've not connected a cable....all midi prefs. look correct.

all works ok in any Ultrabeat midi patterns.

okay.   think i'm gettin closer -- dunno if anyone can untangle this.

seems the midi channels in the event list were set to 10, so I changed all to '1' -- but still no joy.     looked inside the piano roll, and all notes are mapped from C3 on upward ---- although Spark VDM sounds start from C1.

I moved the midi notes down to C1 - now some are triggering and some not….   guess that means the Spark midi region i'm importing has all note info starting upwards from C3 not in the correct C1 region.    uh………..

HELP?!

cheers    J.

Re: ok its gotta be simple - Spark Vintage DrmMach midi import FIXED!
« Reply #5 on: April 15, 2015, 10:18:08 pm »
oh yeh.  it feels good to fix stuff.     and it was simple.

under VDM Prefs - 'Choose Drum map model for Midi Pattern Import' - changed to 'Addictive' - which perfectly sync'd Logic to Spark VDM when midi file was dragged & dropped......yay.

cheers all --- JL
