Can the KeyLab change an instrument's sound patch?
« on: December 07, 2014, 09:57:17 pm »
Is it possible to change an instrument's sound patch/preset using the KeyLab keyboard? Eg; I have an instance of the Jupiter 8V in my DAW (Logic Pro X), rather than use the mouse to scroll through the Jupiter's sound presets, can I use the KeyLab to do this instead?

THANKS

To a certain degree you can alter the sound of Keylab presets. Just park it within multi-mode and scroll down to edit mode (which means using the rotary knobs and ADSR faders like on your hardware controller) and a number of effects which you can channel theough FX1 and FX2. Think of stuff like delay, fazer, stereo rotation, destroyer etc.
Unless you own a dedicated plug-in you can not fundamentally alter the sound. Like, if there's a preset with too much reverb (like the JP8 preset of Pizzicat) you can't get rid of that reverb within Analog Lab. You can or enrich a sound or make it weirder, but you can't strip it of its basic characteristics. You'll have to dig deeper then. That's my theory. Hope it helps somewhat?

Thanks for the reply but I wasn't talking about using the KeyLab with Analog Lab.

I have the Jupiter 8V, Mini V etc plugins. The question is, using the KeyLab keyboard, can I select the individual presets/patches within these plugins?

THANKS

This is all i know so there might be more information

For synths solina and matrix you can midi learn the preset increment buttons

The mini v i think you can only directly select a spefic patch using program change MSB LSB

With the Program Change MIDI message  MSB (for the banks) and the LSB (for the sub-banks).

So i dont think you can scroll though presets as such

But i havent got a keylab which has program change feature built in

So i dont know how quickly you can edit the program number with the encoder

Check the keylab manual  EDIT MODE/ Prog. chng

Hope this helps

The answer to your question is: NO.  The Jupiter 8V only responds to Control Change messages and MIDI Patch Change messages were not implemented as far as I know.   :(
