Keylab 49 pads velocity sensitivity, question
« on: November 22, 2014, 11:29:33 pm »
Just got the Keylad49 yesterday and I'm still trying to sort things out.
I want to tap the pads to play a drums but found that the touch is too 'tough'.  Meaning I have to hit it real hard and I still can't get the velocity to max (127).  I fiddle with this for a few hours and the this is the best setting I came up with to get the most dynamic out of the pads, at the same time cutoff the aftertouch)
Velo after touch:  min = 0, max =1 (to get rid of the after touch)
velo curve: log#3 ( this give the most dynamic of all the curve and I can get up to 95 at the hardest hit, while 'linear' I get only velo level 0- 25)
At the force that I have to hit the pads I think I will break them shortly, so before sending this unit back, I need to know how the pads is working for everyone.
btw, I have the Midi view up to see the note and midi value received by the midi control center.

Just came to the forum for this same issue. I've cranked up the Min LSB to 90, but that's not a great solution... I can't get anywhere close to a reasonable range of expression. I really like that the pads aren't mushy like the m-audio units, but was expecting that the stiffer pads would give a broader range of expression, not less. Going to keep looking for a fix...

Anyone else having this issue?  If there are a few more folks having this issue then it's probably is the design.  I was hoping that I have a bad unit.  Yup, by up the LSB you are now only triggering the sounds mapped to the higher velocity range.

Yep, same here. Also noticed log#3 seems to be the best option...and I set the min velocity to around 60 while max at 127 for each pad. I never usually need drums at below 60-70.

Same thing is happening to my pads as well.  They aren't able to reach the max value at all.

I also have the same issue. I hope it's just firmware because I actually like these pads.
