Minibrute no velocity sensitivity
« on: November 17, 2014, 09:05:15 am »
My Minibrute does not respond to velocity when playing the keyboard or when sending midi from my DAW. The keybed was replaced a while ago as several keys where lifting up, could this have affected it? Has anyone had this problem or have any suggestions? Thanks

It never responded to velocity.  no minibrute ever has responded to velocity.

Right, i couldn't remember as i didn't have it long before the keybed issue. Why does it say that the keyboard is velocity sensitive in the minibrute specs? That was what confused me.

Because the keybed is velocity sensitive, and will send said information to your DAW or other units, but the internal synth engine making the sound doesn't respond to velocity information.

And the keybed actually feels pretty nice to me, so it's good for controlling external gear.

The manual (top of page 34) refers to ENV 1 amplitude being controlled by velocity & the schematic (from the hack a brute site) does show a CV input from velocity ( the envelope section ENV 1) U21A seems to be the amplitude control point w/ velocity being the control input, but the connection software manual refers to the fact that no parameters in the Mini are controlled by velocity & I have not heard/seen any difference in the filters response to velocity. The schematic shows an asterisk next to the refs to velocity, but I have not found a note on the page. I'm going to have to open the Mini and see whats going on.

Ok, from the Electro-Music Site:

Seems to be partially implemented but not done.

Huh, didn't know that.

I'll have to do some experimenting sometime.
