Stupid newbie questions
« on: October 29, 2014, 03:07:28 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I'm new here, and new to controllers/hybrids as well. I have a couple questions I'm hoping someone here can help me answer.

I am a drummer. I have been using an old Roland D5 synth for years next to my drums for contributing the odd keyboard sound to certain songs. Nothing to fancy, piano patch, synth pad, etc.

I'm looking to get rid of the Roland, since it takes up a lot of room, and I'm trying to downsize a bit. Something about the size of the Arturia MiniLab would be perfect for me.

1) Does it have to be attached to a source (PC, Mac, etc) all the time, or can I load patches/presets into it and use it live as a stand alone. I only need about 6 different presets altogether.

2) Does the software that comes with it (5,000 sounds) include any piano sounds?

Any other thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello,

1) Yes, it has to be connected to a computer at all times
2) The 5000 sounds in Analog Lab are the presets of the Arturia V Collection. You can check the instruments in the V Collection on the Arturia website.

Hope this helps.
