Just Ordered Spark
« on: October 03, 2012, 09:03:29 pm »
After much deliberation, looking at Maschine and various other software drum machines, and needing something with which to create original beats from scratch, this teen of the 80s just took the plunge and ordered Spark. My bucks are limited - tell me I've done the right thing...

You have.   Spark is a terrific drum machine and the 1.5 update adds a lot.

Mind you, it is NOT a DAW nor a replacement for Maschine, etc.  You can use Spark inside Maschine, Live, and other DAWs, but you don't have to.

I like to use it best as a stand-alone drum machine to accompany my swampy guitar playing.  ;D

Thanks for that. I don't think I need Maschine because I have Logic 8. That has Ultrabeat, of course, but I find Ultrabeat's interface, and its method of actually getting drum tracks into Logic, a little clunky.

Hi

I don’t think you will regret Spark..  Unfortunately, it cannot really compete with Maschine in terms of interface and workflow but, Spark easily wins when it comes to drum synthesis.

Sure, the synthesis engine is painfully hidden resulting in you having to do all your editing via mouse but, there really is no drum synthesiser that can compete with the Spark sound engine..

Let us know once you get it and, let us know if you have any questions..

Enjoy the wait!!

Spark has arrived, and its everything I hoped it would be :) I have encountered a couple of things I'd like answers to though. Head over to the technical forum and see if you can help me out (3 threads by Yangtze all together).

For my money, Spark is the better deal. Spark does what it does - it does it well and with no pretentions of doing anything else. It's not a hald-assed DAW, it's not an inefficient librarian and it's not a host. It's a great-sounding, great to play, honest-to-goodness drum machine.

I love it.

My spark is my favorite piece of equipment in my studio. It has done some great things to my music also.
