Begining of Save a prayer by Duran Duran
« on: December 05, 2010, 09:06:26 pm »
set your host DAW to 85bpm and play d e f g c a c a at the host bpm. If anyone can set up the sequencer in the JP8v to play when you start the DAW please modify and repost.

Thanks

Not sure what you mean..
You mean the arpeggiator in the JP8V , there is no sequencer in the JP8V. It cant be done , as the arp modes are only up, down, up and down and random.
The Save a Prayer sequence goes up for notes D, E, F, A, and C. Then from that top C, it goes down to A, back to C, back to A.
There is no arp mode which can do that. So either the original is played in time to the tempo, or there could be some type of clever delay to repeat the last few notes.
Also the tempo of 85bpm is too slow.
My answer would be to play the sequence in time, record and then quantise.

BTW your patch is great!! Played in the 3 octave range is spot on.

Jauqq

There is no sequencer in the JP8V?!! press open at the top of the synth and a whole new part of the software opens up including a sequencer (up to 64 steps I think), a modulation matrix and other cool stuff. The sequencer allows the inputing of note on/off inputs and also cross modulation of the LFO's and pretty much anything else. This will definately allow for the inputing of the note sequence you state. If I had the time I would have a bash myself. Thanks for your kind words on the patch I think it is close to Nick's original. When you listen closely to the original there is stil a slight detuning going on which I think is more to do with the analogue oscillators. Difficult to reproduce in the software exactly. I will have a go at the other Rio synth sounds. Perhaps we can collaborate to get them right before publishing. Let me know if you would like to try with me?

You're right!!! My bad. It's one of the sections i've never touched on the JP8V so totally overlooked and forgot about it.  :-[

As i've never used it before i've also no idea how to program it. I'll have a further look when i get some free time.

Cool. Please also look at The Galaxy Modulator in the same part as the sequencer. This will take a lot of your time!!  :)

Let me know if you want to make some more Duran patches?

Thanks mazzingaz.  Did you use one of the presets uploaded above or is this your own preset?  If so, would you upload to the forum?  I really like the sound of your sample mp3s.
