Gate Out Questions
« on: December 24, 2013, 12:51:26 am »
I'm attempting to sync up some of my hardware, but I'm having problems with the CV/GATE out and the sequencer.

When the Microbrute transmits notes from the CV/Gate out to the sequencer in my Monotribe, it seems as though it's only transmitting a step-advance signal when the Brute plays notes on the sequencer. So if I have a sequence on the Microbrute that goes (Note - Note - Note - Note) it's fine, but if I have one that has rests in it the Monotribe stutters and falls out of sync. Is there any way to fix this? I.E. Having the having the microbrute act as a constant 'clock'?

Sorry if I misuse any terminology. Love the synth!

the MicroBrute output is a gate, not clock or sync signal, so output is active only when a note is played. It works with notes on each steps, but it's more a workaround than the proper use of the gate output.
Unfortunately I don't think you'll able to properly sync your Monotribe this way.

Damn, well thanks for the help anyway. I guess the midi mod I bought will be worth the money.  :)

So it is NOT possible to control the Korg Monotribe with the Microbrute?

can't the Microbrute LFO be used as a clock out though ?

very good idea it should be tested.
lfo should be synced on ARP, waveform on square.
BUT i don't the voltage specification of the monotribe, the LFO output could be very hot at large amount (+5 -5v) so it could burn the Monotribe input
