Spark as VST in Cubase 7
« on: November 18, 2013, 08:22:15 am »
I got Spark (VDM?) included when I bought the V-Collection. I load it into my VST instruments rack and it creates a MIDI track and loads the plug-in. I can then play with all the different drum machines and play the preset patterns. All is well and having lots of fun.

Where I'm stumped is if I run across a pattern I want to record into Cubase, what do I do? I tried recording but it records nothing. No MIDI information at all. I'm sure this is a stupid question and I'm also sure there is an explanation, but how do I record some of these cool patterns into Cubase?

If it helps, I'm running Win 7 64-bit and Cubase 7 64-bit. All my other Arturia VSTs are working and recording just fine.

Hi, there are two ways to record your pattern into your DAW:
- by drag'n'drop
- by recording it real-time
Concerning the real-tie recording, in your case you do not have to care about MIDI preferences in Cubase because you are not using Spark controller.
But you have to enable Record MIDI from sequencer in Spark preferences (see attached screenshot).

Hope this helps

Just a follow up. It's working fine now. The drag and drop method will work fine for me.
Maybe some day I can get the SparkLE and use it as a controller. Thanks again! Have a great week!
