Midi and Automation
« on: October 28, 2013, 12:39:43 am »
Not a Mini/microBrute owner yet...but checking them both out.  ;)   I read somewhere that the Midi in/out and USB control capability were slim on these.  The manual info is scant.  Can I write/record automation in Live with these?  Or better yet just a list of what these synths can do with midi.

All those knobs and sliders are basically hardwired pots that control the internal analog CVs. They don't talk to the MIDI ports because they are not digital encoders.

Here's what the Mini (and probably the Micro) do with MIDI:

Accept and send MIDI note data (basic note value, on/off, pitchbend data)
Accept and send MIDI clock sync pulse
Send velocity (synth engine does not use velocity but keybed will generate it)
Accept and send aftertouch

The Mini sends and receives over DIN ports and USB. Micro only has a single DIN for MIDI in and USB for I/O.

And mod wheel data, of course.
