Memory Settings Not Remembered
« on: September 29, 2013, 08:53:41 pm »
I've found that I can use the MIDI Control Center with my MiniLab (firmware 2.1.0.2) to change its internal settings with no issues. However, once I unplug the USB cable, all of the "memory" settings I've changed are lost: the next time I plug the unit in, it's changed back to the default settings. How can I get my settings changes to be permanent?

Thanks!

For the actual MiniLab MCC:
Save a Memory into the MiniLab:
1/ plug the MiniLab
2/ Open the MCC
3/ For this example: select the Knob Number 1
4/ Select Memory 2
5/ Change the Min / MSB to 8 and Max / LSB to 120
6/ Click on "Send to Keyboard"
7/ Select Memory 3
8/ Change the Min / MSB to 14 and Max / LSB to 124
9/ Click on "Send to Keyboard"
10/ Close the MCC and un plug the MiniLab

Load the Memory in the MCC
1/ Plug the MiniLab
2/ Press: Shift+2 (Make sure the pad is well lit)
3/ Open Then MCC
4/ The Min / MSB = 8 and Max / LSB = 120
5/ Close the MCC
6/ Press: Shift+3 (Make sure the pad is well lit)
7/ Open Then MCC
8/ The Min / MSB = 14 and Max / LSB = 124

David,

Am I to infer from your instructions that memory position 1 will always contain the default settings and can't be overwritten? If so, that's probably a good thing for the Reason Remote codec I'm developing, since it'll ensure anyone who uses it will have the exact same settings if I stick to supporting slot 1.

Thanks.

In case anyone else reads this thread and wants to know the answer to my last question, I've figured it out. When you plug the MiniLab in, it starts up with the default settings in place and no memory position active. My assumption that the settings I stored in the first memory position would be in place when the unit was first connected turned out to be incorrect. You can tell which memory position is active by holding down the "Shift" button on the device and checking which of the 8 pads illuminates; after startup, none of the pads will be lit up. I believe the only way to return to return to this state once you've selected a memorized group of presets is to unplug the MiniLab and then plug it back in.
