Spark VDM not sending MIDI in LIVE 9
« on: June 25, 2013, 05:38:49 am »
Spark VDM not sending MIDI in LIVE 9.
Yes I checked the "Send MIDI from sequencer"
and
"Send MIDI from pads"

In VST these 2 buttons look normal
In AU they give me a weird error about my IAC not existing.....

Sometimes the AU version freezes up and won't work at all.

Incidentally  I get the same IAC error in Digital Performer as well.

Hi,
I will start with VST because this is easier than AU.
You have to create a new MIDI track and set the Spark track as input.
In this video I show how to record audio.
Just create a MIDI track instead an audio track.

Thanks for your quick reply!

Yes I understand your methodology in the video and this is what I am doing yet no MIDI is being recorded.
This method works fine using my own Max patches and M4l stuff....
1.Perhaps this is because I'm only using software and not the Spark hardware?
2.Perhaps I need to check other combinations in the preferences?

I've tried everything that seems reasonable what could I be missing?

And why would the AU be "easier"? Despite the protocol being different the basic functionality should be the same yes? Unless it doesn't work properly of course.

I am familiar with IAC use in other situations and have been using it for years, this is the only time I've ever seen anything like this.

Anyway thanks for your time!
I would be happy just to get functionality in VST mode if possible....

Perhaps I should add that VDM AU plugin doesn't work AT ALL in Ableton Live 9.

I think the problem is that feature must not working in your version of VDM.
I am not even sure that it was implemented at the time we have release it.

If I am not wrong you also have Spark Dubstep :). Did you try with it?

Again, an update of both will be released soon and this will definitely work on 1.7.

Concerning AU vs VST, this is because AU does not let plugins send MIDI to other tracks so if you want to do that with AU version you have to do create a virtual MIDI port with the IAC driver wich is not needed with VST version.

With the VDM I will wait for the update.
Arturia's plugs are not my main working tools so my workflow won't be affected.

Sorry if I may sound upset at times.I bought the arturia stuff for personal fun.
Because I've been so busy I admit to becoming impatient when things don't work.
