Filter cutoff just stops working!
« on: May 07, 2013, 05:50:06 pm »
Hi Guys

Had this twice today, the filter cutoff knob just stops working.

A power off and on fixes it.

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers

Andy

that's weird

check the ENV amt setting (and envelop), as well as lfo filter amt?

oh and the mod wheel / what the mod wheel is assigned too

Thanks for the reply.

It's nothing to do with any of those things though.

When it happens you can then set it up very simply, all modulation off etc and still the cutoff knob doesn't work.

A quick power off and on and it starts working again.

hmm very strange indeed...i know the these i've listed have been the cause of some "ugh, obviously!" moments for me.

never had this issue happen to me though, don't understand why it could be...hope someone else can help!

Thanks for the interest though.

I think I have tracked it down a bit more, it only seems to happen if I have been sending midi clock to it!

What's the mod wheel/aftertouch set to modulate?

If either's set to cutoff, and it somehow receives a stray message, it could open up the filter and make it appear to not work.
The mod wheel and aftertouch can add so much to the cutoff input voltage (I believe they can fully open the filter when the knob is set to fully closed), that if they get set to the max value, it will always be at the top of the audible range.

Mmm, mod wheel assignment. I will check that tomorrow, always a chance that a stray CC is getting through there.

I should apologise to Stevism as well as he mentioned this and I missed it!

My cutoff has failed too, but the frequency seems to be stuck around 500Hz. The knob creates a very small sweep, maybe a couple of semitones (I can tell by boosting resonance).
