Hi I have been externally syncing the Beatstep via USB. I noticed that when the Beatstep is in sync mode the USB MIDI clock out of the machine are gate signals not clock. I would suspect that the USB clock output should be a mirror(thru) of the input clock. Its funny because the 5 pin MIDI DIN out reflects the USB input clock. It would be nice if this was fixed in the next update(if there is one).
