Title: Defective Origins
Post by: OlDirtyPastor on February 25, 2015, 02:10:11 am
I'm trying to get an idea as to just how many people are dealing with a defective Origin. It goes without saying that if you have a defective Origin that you undoubtedly also being ignored by Arturia non-existent tech support. Please, I encourage people to be honest and cast your vote. Also if you voted yes, please leave a comment briefly explaining what component was defective. Thanks.

Hi,

I already gave my vote.

Anyway I believe that (almost) all users have similar love-hate relationship with this instrument and frustration towards this company. I've repeated my major issues - big knob and Origin keyboard's Midi-out - thousand times. And not to mention this "support".

EDIT: Just visited Synthtopia site which had a new thread about Arturia KeyLab88 controller. It's alarming how much negative feeling is out there towards this company. The moment when I read this forum all of those 12 posts were very negative and we're speaking about the product which is just released. And I am not saying that it's not fair criticism, even if it's not about the new product itself. Quite contrary. Arturia has a long history of VERY bad customer service and half-finished products and now they are suffering from it. Comments like "DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY" are sadly common. To me it's amazing that this company still continues its horrible business model. Just read Origin forum: new and new disappointed Origin users waiting months or even years for getting help for their malfunctioning units. No updates or anything. I just wonder how long they will survive...

At the moment I've got an Origin with outdated firmware, and I cannot get my iMac to run "Origin Connection" so that it finds the Origin. My Mac, on the other hand, can see the Origin perfectly fine (see attachment showing USB tree). I just had a look at Arturia's Downloads section, and nowhere is there any shadow of an "Origin Connection" download. I don't get it.. how can Arturia not have a download link to the only software that is capable of upgrading my Origin to the 1.4.x firmware. <despair>

Does anybody know how to upgrade the firmware, bypassing this "Origin Connection" tool?

I've had my Origin module for less than a year but I love it. Agreed though, the big knob is weird and I barely use it. Connects to my pc and controller just fine - no issues on that score.
