Title: stand alone - cracks and glitches on midi
Post by: a-user on July 08, 2012, 10:06:14 pm
Hi,

I have a problem with my standalone versions.

Same on Jupiter8V but aslo in SEM-V.

System:

Win7 Home premium 64bit
quad core cpu, 8GIG Ram, Alesis Multimix Firewire soundcard
Analog laboratory keyboard

What happens?

When I use the SEM-V in stand alone I have ugly glitches and cracks while playing from the laboratory keyboard. Same via usb as well as from the midi out jack.

I have no glitches when i push the virtual keys on screen.
In have also no glitches when I play the dll from within reaper from the keyboard!

Only in stand alone!

Whats wrong here?

thank you

I am also seeing this in standalone and in Logic as an AU.... :(

I may have to roll back a version.

Hello,

trying to reproduce...
which sample rate are you using ?
which presets (for both Jupiter and SEM V ) do you use ?
or any setting that could be resource consuming...

Hi Thomas,

was a problem with the alesis multimix driver.

The driver crashes the new plugins (all of them excerpt semv where an error message displays... ) when try to change samplerate or samples from within the standalones.

I cant change any setting from with in the standalones.
When I change it in the alesis control panel also errors occur. Sometimes changes are taken sometimes not.
When I am back in the standalone setting are still unchanged there.

Weird!

Then I install asio4all et voila, everything is fine with onboard realtek audio, no problems.

F@ck Avid/Alesis, their latest drivers are ages old, no support for their hardware anymore.

greetz!

I traced the issue to a maxing out of CPU - one of the cores was spiking intermittently in the new version.  The response of the CPU meter on the SEM itself wasn't fast enough to show the spike. In Logic I could see one core hitting red.  Though if you see my specs in the sig, my Mac isn't that out of date...

Rolling back to the previous fixed it.  I will miss the new sound selector though - that is nice!
