Title: Arturia Analog Experience (The Laboratory)
Post by: A Flock Of Budgies on March 18, 2011, 05:28:23 am
I'd like to know why there is no power supply in the box I recently got from Sweetwater. How am I supposed to use this on its own without a power supply?

It works on buspower from your USB cable. No power supply needed ;)

If you want to use ANALOG EXPERIENCE as stand-alone via MIDI-In/Out you have to by a power-supply! Read the Manual (http://www.arturia.net/downloads/analoglaboratory/manual/) Chapter 7.2.2 at page 78 for more informations....  ;D :D ;D

That's why the keyboard has an USB connection to get bus power AND serve as a MIDI in/out. ;)

Don't use an USB cable which is too long because the display might not get enough power to show full contrast level.

BE CAREFUL if you use an external power supply!   The manual and the box all say 12vdc..but it's actually 6vdc as indicated on the back of the controller ( at least on mine it is ).  I purchased a variable supply from Hosa and set it for 6vdc and it work fine.

Thanks for the advice!

Yes on the Laboratory there is written that it is 6V 0,5A. They should really revise the manual (http://www.arturia.net/downloads/analoglaboratory/manual/), 'cause it's a little bit confussing in some manner.
Do you know something about the Player? On the backside of the Player it's indicated as 12V 0,5A.
???

Thanks in advance

Manuel

BTW: I don't use my controller in this manner but if I would have to, it would be nice to know what is wrong and what is right!  :o

Not sure what you mean by 'backside of the Player' ???  On mine - both the box and the manual had 12vdc..keyboard said 6...  ::)

AE 25 The Player (http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/products/APE.html) is the smallest Analog Experience keyboard controller.
And yes, on the AE 49 The Laboratory (http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/products/ALE.html) it's inicated as 6V 0,5A, but on the AE 25 The Player (http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/products/APE.html) not. Next to the DC IN is writen 12V 0,5A, but I guess that it's also 6V 0,5A.

12vdc equates to 6vac, could this be why the manual says 6 and the keyboard days 12?

Perhaps you should write today off as a bad day.

You could be a little more sincere

Google VAC and VDC, that's volts alternative current and volts direct current.
That's -2 karma for you today

Who cares?

What days your keyboard again?  :D

PS: My keyboard days nothing, because it has never learned to day anything!  :P

Off course not!

What do you think why I was writing the Solutions! (http://www.arturia.com/evolution/smf/index.php?topic=5322.0), months before you joined this forum?  :D

Sorry but you really making me laugh!

I know a lot users who appreciate my comments and posts.... This is just your personal opinion and has nothing to do with Arturia or music!

PS: Please send PMs next time!

BTW: You misunderstood something here! This is just a fault or mistake, because it's not indicated right on the box, in the manual and on older gears.

PS: If you want to make reference to an older post, use the quote button to prevent misunderstandings... ;)

Solutions !!

Anyone with the manual, half a brain and google could figure that out - You're classic forum fodder, Sarcastic, juvenile and petulant. All stemming from one post you took offence to, for whatever reason i have no idea.

grow up and get yourself some humility

As i mentioned, I do not have the Keyboard, I was asking if that was the reason why it says different things on the keyboard than on the literature, as in electronics, 12 VDC is actually 6VAC, so you see, they could have given you both options.. I don't know, as i mentioned, I don't have the keyboard

Trust the hardware printing: the Laboratory Experience keyboard is 6VDC, center positive.
Yes, the manual is misprinted, and yes the Player and Factory keyboards have different voltage inputs due to different regulators. And yes again, all this could be slightly confusing (as I could experience at the Tech Support desk).

@Manuel
@stuey
Folks, please keep in mind that in real life you could (and should) be the best friends in the world, as you are both synth enthusiasts and quite skilled, and I would personally enjoy meeting you two (not as a boxing referee, though). So let's try to keep this place as a gentlemen (and gentlewomen) club. :)

Agreed Antoine

I was just a little aggrieved being abused by someone I'd never met on my first serious post, and carried on in other threads.

Best of friends and happy here :)

Very happy (Just took delivery of Spark) It's a joy to use, top marks !
