Title: Doepfer DarkEnergy playmate
Post by: hzd on February 18, 2014, 10:46:52 pm
Ok, so I have the Microbrute and a Doepfer Darktime sequencer, and I like sequencers.
My question is, how do I get them to sync up.
The Microbrute does'nt send MIDI or clock CV. The Darktime sends clock CV but the Microbrute only accepts gate cv. If I send MIDI from Darktime, it also sends midi notes, so instead of only nudging the steps along it plays and transposes the sequences on the Microbrute. Any ways of filtering out the pitch information but retaining the midi clock information?

Have you tried setting the Microbrute to Step On Gate and connecting the clock out from the Dark Time to the Gate In on the Microbrute? The clock signal from the Dark Time is the right voltage (+5 V) so I see no reason why it shouldn't work, unless the clock pulses sent out by the Dark Time have a shorter duration than the Microbrute needs.

Seems like that might be a good feature request. I'm sure that it could be included in the connection software in terms of provisioning a CV input or output.

I have no problem syncing it to my monotribe. Monotribe sync out -> Microbrute gate in. And, yes, set Step On Gate in MicroBruteConnection software.

This is how I bypass my midi sync problem   ;)
