Hi All !
We have been working on an useful script to map your Keylab with Live 8 & 9.
We have it setup so that the BANK 2 knobs and SLIDERS work with Live. This way you will still have the BANK 1 knobs and SLIDERS working with your Analog Lab software.
Bank 2 button :
(http://s29.postimg.org/coaropyw3/Key_Lab61_02.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/coaropyw3/)
The mapping that we created for use with Ableton allows you the following:
• Control 16 pads in and Ableton Drumracks instrument – when you change the bank position the pads will automatically map to the right bank of pads.
• 8 knobs control the first 8 parameters that are assignable/pre-assigned in Live Devices
• 8 volume controls in the mixer
• Master Level
• 8 Track Record Arms using the assignable switches
• Transport controls - PLAY, STOP, RECORD, REWIND, FORWARD and LOOP on/off
Please read carefully the pdf tutorial. ;D
In order to make it works you will need to configure your Keylab 25 49 or 61 with the Unified Midi Control Center (http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/downloads/updates.html#MCC).
For Keylab 25 users please download Ableton Live Script HERE (http://downloads.arturia.com/extra/keylab/KeyLab25_live.zip).
For Keylab 49/61 users please download Ableton Live Script HERE (http://downloads.arturia.com/extra/keylab/KeyLab49_61_live.zip)
Enjoy !

Absolutely fantastic, thank you so much!
I'm using Ableton live with my Keylab 49.
Bank 2 knobs are working fine, faders and master volume work well too.
The 16 pads mapped instantly to the instruments in a drum rack. This was one of the reasons I bought the Keylab in the first place so I"m very pleased it now works.
***One issue; I still can't get the transport controls to work!***
Thanks and all the best,
Steve
-
Thanks !
No transport !?
Are you sure you didn't tweak Live settings ?
-
I followed the instructions in the pdf.
In Live's Control Surfaces I have 'Arturia KeyLab 49-61' and in Input I have 'KeyLab 49'.
In the MIDI Ports section I have 'Input: Arturia KeyLab 49-61; 'Track' and 'Remote' selected.
-
By the way, 'Loop on/off' works fine. It's just the other transport controls don't work.
-
Transport not working for me either in Live 9 Suite. Loop on/off works but I have to hit it twice to get it to change each time so the on/off is not always in sync with the light of the button. None of the other transport controls are working though.
-
Thanks so much for this!
-
Is this hackable to turn the 16 pads into a step sequencer? I don't think it is possible, but it would be an amazing breakthrough if someone knew how to modify the script so that you can hit a key on the keyboard and activate the 16 pads as a 16 pad step sequencer for a clip and have it setup so that you could hit any key on the keyboard to show its' respective step sequence across the pads. Wonder if it is even possible, it would give Arturia Keylab a huge advantage!
-
Followed the pdf, and my transport controls are working fine, except the leds that do not sync.
-
You on Mac or PC?
-
So far I can get everything except the track record arm buttons to work. They don't work at all, well, if I manually enable the rec I can get a few of the buttons to disarm it, but they buttons don't line up, sometimes I can get buttons 1-3 to turn of any track, and the others ones don't work at all.
Also the mod wheel stops the sequencer playback.
-
Has anyone figured out how to get the Keylab 61 to work with Ableton Live in Blue Hand mode? That way, whenever you pick a synth, it will automap to the keyboard.
If we had this, we could all start working on creating presets for the Arturia synths with the parameters in a logical way. Then, any time you want to play the Arturia Jupiter, for ex, you could load the preset and the 10 knobs and 9 faders would automatically map to that synth (actually since there are 2 banks, it would be 20 knobs and 18 faders as well as some switches). This would allow the user to start playing these synths like real synths instead of tweaking with a mouse.
I would hope Arturia would release this themselves as most Midi controllers from other companies have it setup for the blue hand to work automatically.

Hey there, since the most recent Ableton Live update to v9.1.2 there has been a change to the scripting and the scripts that did work under v9.1.1 no longer do. There has even been a change to the folder where the scripts are to be stored, e.g.
-On pc/windows 7 : inside "C:\ProgramData\Ableton\Live 9 Suite\Resources\MIDI Remote Scripts"
-On a mac right-click the Live application you use (there might more than one installed!) and select "view package content", then browse to "App-Resources/MIDI Remote Scripts".
Is there any chance we may expect updated scripts that work with the latest version?
Many thanks,
Kirk.

If you replace and don't install side by side it still copies the user remote scripts over
So they haven't removed that function
I maybe wrong but if they ceased support on user remote scripts ,they would remove this
The location you listed is for surface scripts in python not the generic controller script
Can you still select the script, is it still listed
I assume it hasn't copied it over because you have installed 9.1.1 and 9.1.2 side by side
Did you put the script in the preferences folder of 9.12 ?
They haven't updated this document either
https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/remote-scripts-stop-working/
"Note: This only applies to 3rd party Python Remote Scripts. “User Remote Scripts” in Live´s preferences folder are copied automatically when updating Live."
So to recap I assume you have installed the script into the location as the original above instructions into 9.1.2 preferences and its shown you can select it but no controls are mapped
Making this clearer will help resolve the issue
I will retest the minilab script as it goes in the same place and uses the same feature of user remote scripts
-
Ben,
I'm interested in purchasing an Analog Laboratory 49. Do you have a script to map that one with Ableton 9 yet?
Thanks :D
-
Hey,
I have followed all the instructions regarding how to get user remote scripts working with the Keylab 25 and Ableton, however I had to find the new location to install the "user remote scripts" because of the update which moves this folder to "MIDI remote scripts" within the .app package contents (Mac OS).
I can select the Keylab 25 from the "control surface" drop menu in the Ableton preferences, however I can't seem to control any settings/parameters in Ableton from the physical Keylab 25 parameter dials. It should be noted that I cannot get the purple hand to show up either which is supposed to indicate which group of parameters will be controlled.
I am suspicious that the existing user remote scripts don't work with the updated Ableton version (9.1.1 or 2)? Because everything seems like it should work, except for the actually ability to control everything from the Keylab midi controller...
Please help!
Thanks
-
Keylab 49 doesn't show up in Preferences for me under the Control Surface drop down menu. Ableton recognizes the Keylab as a midi port and I can map everything manually, but the auto mapping doesn't seem to be an option for me.
-
When I use my Keylab 25 as a general MIDI controller with this Live control script the encoders don't work properly. They jump up to 25, then accelerate up to 127 with a tiny movement.
There is no problem with the faders, which send CC 0-127 smoothly and slowly as expected. However, i'm getting trouble with the likes of MIDI learn on VSTs.
Any idea what could be wrong?
There is no problem with the encoders when I use them with Analog Lab, and no problem when I don't use this script.
Basically, the only reason I can see I need for this script is to enable the transport, which doesn't work without it.
-
page with script is missing, can someone upload it please?

Update :
All Keylab scripts for Live are now available here :

I just installed this on to my mac, everythings working great! just the transport controls dont seem to work, only the loop button. They wont even work if i try to map them myself, i saw a few other people had this problem, anyone manage to fix it?
Thanks!
-
is there a script for ableton live with the keylab88. or can i use the one existing for the keylab49/61.
thanks
-
Sorry, no scrip is available yet for the KL88.
-
Hello,
any estimate of when a script for the Keylab88 will be available?
I'm reverse engineering the keylab61 patch and the corresponding ableton script to make it work with my 88 but it's time consuming...
=== UPDATE (2015/01/19):
I've been fighting my lazyness this weekend and created a configuration/template for the Keylab88 based on the official resources provided for the Keylab61.
Attached to this post is an archive containing two things:
- "AbletonLiveTemplate.keylab88" is the MIDI configuration to be loaded in one available memory slot on the Keylab88 using the MIDIControlCenter
- the "Arturia Keylab 88" folder must be copied to Live's User Remote Scripts folder and contains the mappings between midi CC messages and Ableton Live controls.
Please follow the instructions provided by Arturia for the Keylab61's template (downloadable here: http://www.arturia.com/keylab61/resources) and you should be good.
The mapping is the same as the official one provided for the Keylab61 (see first post in this thread).
Hope it's going to be useful to other users!

New to my Keylab 61, honestly had endless problems with very limited help, and here I am again.
BUT, I've followed the instructions on the PDF and am up to installing the 'Arturia keylab 49-61' folder into
Macintosh HD/Users/(username)/library/preferences/Ableton/Live (latest version)/user remote scripts/,
However I cant find this 'ableton' folder.
I can go: Macintosh HD/Users/(username)/BUT THERES NO LIBRARY FOLDER HERE!
or: Macintosh HD/library/preferences/BUT THERES NO ABLETON FOLDER HERE!
The only 'ableton' folder I have is where the 'factory packs' and 'live recordings' folders are...
Please help Mr. Ben Arturia

In the pdf there's this tip :
(in order to open this library simply hold ALT then go to finder “GO” menu and choose “library”.
Or this way :

Any ideas how to get this working on Keylab61?
I have followed instructions and installed it to both: 9.16 32bit and 9.1 64bit Live and i can choose Keylab as controller in both, but none of the knobs/faders work as said in the PDF document.
Yes i loaded the Live template via MidiControlCenter and updated firmware.
What next?
-
@Basil24, did you select Bank2 on your Keylab? That's the group of knobs and faders mapped to Live's faders and macros. Bank1 still sends CC messages picked up by the Analog Lab.
Claudio
-
Yes i did. No controller changes anything. What to try next? Should there be some visual indication that setup is ok? Like colored retangle or "blue hand" or something?
-
Yes in my case I have the blue hand icon, and it appears only if the Keylab is setup in Live's midi configuration. So yes definitely, if it's not there it means Live is not configured properly.
Can you share a screenshot of Live midi configuration panel?

No bluehand for me.
-
Anyone?
I would really like to get this working with Live.
My OS is Yosemite if that helps.
-
Did you store in keylab memory the Keylab xx-Live.keylabxx file with the MCC ?
Pease read again my PDF. You've missed some points :
- Select your KL as a Control Surface in Live preferences and select only the input. Let the output on NONE
- In the Midi Port section select also only Input track and Remote.
-
Hello everyone.
Trying to get everything to run smoothly with my KL49, however, the Arturia Keylab 49-61 option is not showing up for me under controller surfaces. I know others have had this issue but I have searched everywhere without finding any clear solution. I have already imported the live mapping into the Midi Control Center, saved it and installed the script folder into the User Remote Scripts but it does not seem to be helping. Is there something I am missing?
Someone help a fellow frustrated musician out.
-
If the KL is not in the list that means that you didn't put the folder at the right place.
Check that :
- you have placed the folder in the latest version folder of Live
- put the folder itself and not only the files that were in the folder
-
Okay I dropped the entire "Arturia Keylab 49-61" folder with the user script into
C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live (latest version)\Preferences\User Remote Scripts\
but it is still not showing up for me under controller surfaces. I wish I was a bit more tech savy but I'm not. I have followed every direction given throughout every pdf in every one of the downloads for the keylab; Software Center, Analog Lab and Control center but I cannot for the life of me figure out why it won't show up. I can see the keylab under input and output but not in the controller surface. Any other ideas what could be going wrong?
Appreciate the quick reply.
-
What is you version of live ?
With some old version of Live such as 9.0.6 you can have such problem.
-
Wow, I never would have noticed. Okay so It looks like ableton only implemented the automatic updates after 9.0.6. I was running on a previous version so I just now realized I needed to go upgrade it manually. Thanks for being so attentive Ben! It finally showed up for me in the control surface. Everything is working beautifully now and I couldn't be happier :)
-
You're welcome !
Nice if it's working great now !
-
Hello,
I doesn't work for the moment for me in ableton.
I can see the keylab 49 in my preferences in ableton.
I click on edit and recall on the keylab, then i choose the value 1 where i saved the preset of midi controler, and validate it clicking on value/preset button but when i'm on bank 2 , no knobs or fader is responding ....
Can someone help me ?
-
Hello,
I have the same issue as oliscrat.. I have followed all the instruction, but keylab 49 still does not respond. I can use it as a controler, do manual mappings etc. but instant mapping does not work..
My firmware version is 1.33, I have stored the needed config to memory 2 and recalls it when I want to use keylab with ableton.. My ableton live is 9.1.4. I can see "Keylab 49-61" in control surfaces, I have set the input to "KeyLab 49", Output is "none" and "Track" is on.
I really appreciate your help, I cant wait to make it work )
Thank you
-
Okay, here is my finding how to configure Keylab 49 to work with Ableton Live 9.2.2 as a MIDI controller for Mac OS X.
1) Keylab firmware must be v1.33 or later
2) Place the Keylab 49 user script file to:
Macintosh HD/Users/(username)/library/preferences/Ableton/Live (latest version)/user remote scripts/
(in order to open this library simply hold ALT then go to finder “GO” menu and choose “library”.
Note: This is NOT a python script so you do not need to show inside package of Ableton.
3) Restart Ableton
4) In Ableton preference dialog, enable the Keylab script as Control Surface and INPUT. Enable Track and Remote for MIDI ports > INPUT section.
5) Start a song. Move Modulation wheel and see what happens. If Ableton stops by moving modulation wheel, confirm the "Num" value on Keylab display. If it is not "001", then hit "Edit" button and "CC" button, then change the "Num" value to 001.
6) If everything works fine, make sure you save the keylab's working memory to your local template file just in case.
Hope that helps! :D

Hello,
I tried all day to get my keylab 61 black edition working on ableton live 9. I did everything that was in the PDF, updated the firmware, used the MCC, managed to put the latest script I could find into the right folder... but:
Keylab 49 doesn't show up in Preferences for me under the Control Surface drop down menu.
I woulb be very grateful if I had an answer to my question.
Im using live 9.5, a mac book pro retina with OSX Yosemite version 10.10.5, for information.
Thanks in advance,
Cheers from Paris,
Loreto

Hi!
Are there any news regarding KeyLab88? simply changing the extension from .keylab4961 to .keylab88 doesnt work. Isnt the bigger keyboard the only difference between the units?
Thanks for help!

Good question. I am supposed to receive a Keylab 88 tomorrow and would like to know the answer to this. It is not critical, but it would be nice to know.

Could somebody tell me where to find this mythical Keylab xx-Live.keylabxx file? Trying to map my keylab 49 to Ableton 9.6 but, besides blue hand, it doesn't seem to work.
-
Thanks so much Claudio!
You're a Keylab 88 genious :)
This is really helpful! I've messaged Ben who works for Arturia, to ask if he'd post them on the official website (with your permission) to make it easier for other customers to find your post!
Hopefully Arturia will make configuration templates for Logic Pro X/ Mainstage 3 / Studio One 3 too, as well as other DAW's eventually! :)
Only got my Keylab 88 yesterday - but am really impressed with the keybed -
Out of interest, do you use yours live for gigging, Or is Ableton live just the DAW you use for anything Keylab 88 ? Would be interested to hear about your setup, when you get a chance :)

Yes, Under the session view this is something very important.. It needed to be activate, solo and arm the track.

Hi,
I have the keylab and ableton on windows (10) for more than a year, and decided to try once more to set up the transports...
I downloaded the files, did what was in the pdf and it did not work, as reported all over in this thread.
Then i decided to do something weird: in ableton (9.7) in the options/preferences/midi section you have 3 options for your controller;
control surface, input and output. Here I did have the controller and input set, but did not have anything in the output .... (why would i, it is not a synth?).
Setting the output to keylab 61 as well, made the transports work!
It only took me more than a year, but i am happy!
In the second section, midi outputs i also have for the keylab all three options turned on (yellow)
Hope this helps anyone, as i always learn a lot here!
-
Just tried the Keylab mapping thing. Storing the file in the Midi Remote scripts doesn't work. Ableton doesn't recognize it. So this doesn't work for newer Ableton versions.
Switching your Keylab ON in the MIDI sync in preferences to control the transport buttons works like a charm though.
I'm a new Keylab user... I hope I won't get into too much trouble... Haven't read a lot of good things about Arturia support...
-
Will this work on Ableton 11.02 with Keylab 88 MKII ? IF not can you help direct me where i can download the right script for it?
