Title: MAJOR malfunction of Spark LE.
Post by: alwaysuptil1 on June 30, 2013, 07:19:51 am
Help! The controller buttons don't match the plug-in at all.  In fact just plugging it into the USB port, the Red Record button stays lit, the number 6 and 14 stay lit, sometimes the Kit and Instr. button stay lit and the Solo button stays lit.  I think this thing is fried.  Even when there's no application running it looks this way.

Hi,
is it staying like this when you press Play button?

Yes. Hitting Play and pushing buttons lights up other buttons. For example, selecting the first Pad, (usually the kick drum pad) lights up the little blue indicator light under both the kick pad and the 6th pad. I could send more pix.  Is there a way to reboot it?

Things I have tried:
Switching computers
Switching MIDI cables
Trying as a plug-in on 2 different DAW's and standalone.

Nothing changes.

FURTHERMORE, I just tried to download the manual on the Resources page of SparkLE and it sends me to some weird server expired page for Arturia.net.    WTF is going on?

I've been trying to update SparkLE but the Midi Controller won't even connect, telling me I have to put the controller in MIDI mode.  How do I do that?  When I spin the dials and touch the buttons, the software moves accordingly but the controller isn't connected????

Here's what I get when I try to download the Manual.  Happens when you try to download ANY manual for that matter.  Once again this is a LINK from YOUR SITE:

Not sure about your issue, but I checked the Arturia site last night and the manual came up no problem. But now when I check it, I get the same thing, so it must be a recent server issue.

I think something is wrong with the webpage coding, because the links take you to arturia.net.  Anyway, the link to the SparkLE Manual should instead be http://www.arturia.com/downloads/SparkLE/manual/EN_SPARK_Manual_1.6_LE.pdf (http://www.arturia.com/downloads/SparkLE/manual/EN_SPARK_Manual_1.6_LE.pdf).

Thanks for that.  I found out how to put it in MIDI mode but that didn't help.  Basically, the unit works, it just has lights that are lit up when they're not supposed to be, and vice versa.  I want to reset the controller but when I try and do it from the standalone page it tells me the unit isn't attached.    What to do?

Hi,
sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
I was off last 2 days due because I was moving house.
This looks like a hardware problem.
You can try to do a firmware update. You can get the updater here (http://www.arturia.com/downloads/SparkLE/fw_update/).
I don't think it will solve the issue but it is worth a try.

If the problem persists we will have to exchange the unit.

Thanks for getting back to me.   You are correct.  It didn't help.  I've contacted Sweetwater's tech support and they wanted to check a few things out with Aurturia and get back to me.  Now that I've tried this reboot, I suspect it's time to exchange it for another unit.  Should I do this through Sweetwater or go straight through you?

BTW, thank you for doing all that you do for us out here.  You are the lone responder and it is appreciated.

It would be better to handle this with us so we can get it to analyze the problem.
I will discuss this with our team and get back to you ASAP.

I got an email from someone at Arturia asking for my email address and mailing address.  I responded.  Where are we at with this?

We will do an exchange of the unit with a new one.
I don't know if we will directly send it to you from France or if we will pass through your local distributor?
I will check with him as soon as he arrived at the office.

Whatever is the fastest would be preferred as its been over 2 weeks since the unit went haywire.
