Title: Minibrute either not working or LFO not working
Post by: XY on June 08, 2013, 11:50:32 am
Hi there,

Just plugged the brute in after a gig and firstly it would do nothing except make an beating clipped sound irrespective of the settings. Using the keyboard has no effect on the sound.  At the same time the Octave 0 and + & - lights flickered in time to the beating sound.  After turning on and off several times the brute started working normally except the LFO is not having any effect on the sound (the light is on and the speed changes).  Most of the time when the unit is turned off and on again i get the beating sound and keyboard not functioning.  Otherwise i get the LFO not working version.

This does not bode well for my next gig in 4 weeks time! Any help gratefully received, thanks...

Perhaps this is the issue?

Also, it might be a loose cable inside.  Maybe in transport after gigs, a connector came unseated.  The problem could be intermittent, if the connector were very slightly loose.
File a support ticket; they'll probably have you open it up and check.

Thanks, it may be something like that, sure.  I've PM'd Bruno.

Update: i got a support response advising how to open the brute, check the cabling to the keyboard and close it up again.  All done and the unit worked fine on the first power up but afterwards i just got the beating sound/pulsing octave lights.  By the 5th time on it was ok again. Then not and so on.
Should state that beforehand i had given the unit a couple of mild Fonzy style pats on the bottom and the lfo had started working again afterward (sometimes, otherwise I got the pulsing sound)
Am now waiting for supports next advice.

Well, i've heard nothing further following 2 follow up emails.  May I have some more support please as i've got a very unreliable mini brute and no suggestion of a solution yet - thanks in advance

sorry for the late reply,
it sound like you have bad contact or random short circuit inside you machine. First check that no metallic part or dust is moving inside. If nothing found, please ask David at tech support for a RMA.
