Would it be easy to replace the side panels with my own wood panels?
-
if you're good at woodworking it should not be too difficult. Plastic sides are not involves in the structure of the case.
-
please post a picture if you do it, i'm curious :)
-
Ooh, good idea. I think the minibrute actually looks pretty good with the stock endcaps, though, so I'll keep mine as is.
I did make custom wood sidepanels for my mpc a while ago. I imagine the process would be pretty similar. I made mine with only hand tools, with power tools it could be done more accurately and with better results, though I like the rough finish mine ended up with.
Here's a bunch of pics I made during the process:

anybody knows how to unbuilt the sides?
i just got a minibrute and i'm a cabinet maker/luthier and i'm gonna make some gorgeous black walnut sides.
and maybe a travel case/stage rack too!
-
definitely post pics here if you end up doing it!
I would try the screws on the bottom that are on the sides, right next to the endcaps.
They might be just to hold the endcaps in place, so you could take them off without having to take off the whole back panel. That's how it is on my mpc1000.

it does not seem to work, anybody did that in the past?

-
i found how to unbuilt it, it's pretty easy. i made three set of sides, one in dark walnut, one in maple and one in oak. here is a pic with the dark walnut sides, made of real hardwood and eccofriendly finish.

wow nice wood panels. do you sell them ?
-
i might be in for a pair, as well. everybody nows that wooden side panels sound so much warmer and more organic than rubberized plastic ones. :)
schn's dark walnut ones look lovely. but he's located in canada, and i'm in berlin, and importing stuff from outside the eu can be a pain - and pretty expensive, too.
so, anybody from inside the eu offering something similar?
-
US seller here: studiopro7

Thanks!
That desktop version is pretty slick!
I wouldn't end up doing it to mine, but curious how easy it was to do? Never been inside the minibrute. Guessing the front plate is from the front of the minibrute, underneath the keys?

hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and am also looking for wood sides for my minibrute. I'm in SoCal. Anyone know where I can purchase any? I saw the ones that were made by schn, they sure look nice! How can I purchase a pair and if so for how much? Thanks
-
Do it yourself following the explanations here : http://hackabrute.yusynth.net

Hey bruters, so who actually makes these panels these days? I'd like some for Minibrute SE. I too would make them myself, but I've got close to no space at this point. :-*
